How to Check Waterproofing Quality Before You Pay the Balance

Quality is not a brand name on a bucket. At handover you should be able to point to testing, a completion note, and a warranty that matches the quotation you signed.

What to ask for

• Pond test on a terrace bay that can hold water, or a shower test on a bathroom.
• Photos of joints and penetrations before they were covered.
• The same warranty period on quote, completion record and certificate.
• Exclusions in writing — plumbing, later civil cuts, ponding you declined to fix.
