Why Is My Ceiling Getting Wet?

A wet ceiling is an exit. The entry is somewhere water could travel: terrace joint, bathroom above, pipe chase, AC drain, or — less often — condensation on a cold slab.

Use timing as evidence

• After rain, on a top floor: start with the terrace and rain-facing parapet.
• After a shower: start with the bathroom above, even if that bathroom “looks dry”.
• Random hours: consider a pipe or tank. Do not assume it from the stain alone.

What not to do

Do not paint the stain and call it waterproofing. Do not coat the terrace from a WhatsApp photo of the bedroom. Thermal mapping plus a labelled cause is how you avoid breaking the wrong room.
